EMILY BARONE

Flutist Emily Barone is a junior undergraduate student at the Peabody Conservatory of Music where she currently pursues a double major in Flute Performance and Music Education. At the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Emily is in the flute studio of Laurie Sokoloff. She has studied flute with Sara Nichols and she currently studies baroque flute with Gwyn Roberts and fife with Donald Heminitz. Emily has a passion for teaching as well as flute performance and has taught private flute and fife lessons for five years. She is an Artist in Residence through the Child Life Department at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital and teaches music weekly through exploration and play. She also has a strong passion for fife and drum music and historical reenacting. She is a member of the Monumental City Ancient Fife and Drum Corps in Baltimore, MD, American Originals Fife and Drum Corps, Washington City Fife and Drum Corps in Washington D.C, and the 1st PRVC in Gettysburg, PA. Emily is the fife instructor for the Ft. McHenry Guard Junior Fife and Drum Corps. She is a Private Events staff member for the George Peabody Library and the Evergreen Museum and Library, a Resident Assistant for the Peabody Residence Hall, and the Preparatory Youth Orchestra Manager for the Peabody Preparatory. She has worked for the Baltimore Symphony’s OrchKids program and has also been an intern for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Academy for two years.
